DO I NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
- Appointment is required for applicants seeking General Medical Certificate / Limited Medical Certificate.
- Appointment is NOT required for New Zealand Student Visa applicants except PhD and Scholarship students.
- Only 10 applicants applying for student visa will be done on the basis of first come first serve .
HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
- Appointments can be booked ONLINE ONLY.
- Please avoid booking an appointment during Menstrual Period (Day 1 to Day 6) as this may affect urine test.
WHERE DO I GO FOR IMMIGRATION MEDICAL EXAMINATION?
- Please proceed to the premises of Norvic International Hospital.
- Please park your vehicles at Norvic International Hospital Parking.
OPENING HOURS
- Our department is open from 10 am until 3 pm for new clients; Sunday to Friday for new clients.
- For follow up, please visit us between 3:30 pm to 5 pm; Sunday to Friday.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO BRING ON THE DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT?
- Offer letter for students.
- Appointment Slip (You can show appointment in your mobile phone. Printed appointment is not compulsory)
- Original Passport (Compulsory).
- Spectacles/ Contact lenses if you wear one.
- List of current medications / medical records of major operations or illness. Previous Chest X-ray if you have any past history of chest problems.
- For medical examination you do not have to be empty stomach.
- Please bring a shawl along with you (for female applicants).

* The fees above DOES NOT INCLUDE the cost of additional tests/ treatments such as: TB diagnosis, TB treatment, Repeat Chest X-ray and Specialist reports.
WHAT TESTS DO I NEED?
• The tests you require will depend on your visa category.
• The required tests will be listed on your NZER tracking sheet.
• 501 code - Includes medical examination, urine routine test (for all above 5 years of age).
• 502 code - Chest X-ray (above 11 years of age).
• Blood test where applicable.
• Panel Physician may also request additional test as per clinical requirements.
• Applicants over the age of 70 years will also require a Mini Mental state Examination (to measure Cognitive Impairment).

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING IMMIGRATION MEDICAL EXAMINATION?
- You need to create a health case (“Upfront Medical”) with the help of our staff.
- All applicants below the age of 18 years must be accompanied by their guardian.
- Visa category and Visa type will determine the required certificates. Kindly ensure you are aware of the Visa category and type.
- Register at the registration desk.
- Verification of ID.
- Photograph will be taken at the clinic.
- Height, Weight and Blood Pressure will be measurement.
- Urine Test
- Blood Test if applicable
- 501 code - External physician examination (Including Vision Test)
- 502 code - Indicates chest X-ray.
WHAT IF I AM PREGNANT?
If you are pregnant please inform our staff at the time of creating a health case.
Pregnant Visa applicants are NOT REQUIRED to undergo Chest X-ray examination.
WILL I GET TO SEE MY REPORT / HOW IS THE REPORT SENT?
• You do not need to collect any report once all your examinations
are complete.
• Your report will be forwarded electronically via e - Medical to
the department of New Zealand Immigration within three working days in most
cases.
• If there are any issues in your physical examination or chest x-ray
our panel physician will inform you during the consultation.
• If any of the blood tests are abnormal, our office will contact you within 24hrs.
• Blood tests reports can be collected from our office or Norvic Hospital report collection center (Bill is required).
UNDRESSING FOR MEDICAL EXAMINATION
• As per guidelines provided by New Zealand Immigration. You will be required to remove your clothes excepts your inner wear.
• We provide t-shirts and long length shorts to both male and
female candidates and every effort is taken to maintain your
dignity. Only external physical examination is conducted.
• We offer chaperone to all applicants. All children below age of
18 will require a guardian to be present during examination.
WHAT IF MY X RAY SHOWS ABNORMALITY?
• The panel physician will inform you of the result.
• Sometimes e-medical can auto generate further tests depending on
the abnormality.
• Once your case is submitted, Immigration New Zealand will review
your case and advise if any further tests are required. They will notify
the client via email.
WHAT ARE TESTS FOR TB?
• TB is tested by examination of sputum (Authorized at IOM
Laboratory only).
• This is done in two ways- smear and culture.
• Kindly note TB culture report takes 8 weeks for the results.
WHAT IS THE WAITING TIME IN CLINIC?
Generally your medical examination, urine test and X-ray are completed within two hours.
FRAUDULANT BEHAVIOUR
• Any fraudulent activity will be reported directly to the New Zealand Immigration.
